We're so grateful for Katherine and all her support during, before and after our son's birth! I was really nervous as a first time mom with a lot of anxiety, and she really helped my husband and I prepare and had a lot of great insight and information on how to do so. During the birth she was so kind and attentive and even though in the moment I didn't always want to move positions or things like that, I'm so glad she made me do it because I'm certain it helped move things along and is a huge reason I had the best birth I could. She was also just a wonderful and comforting presence and was so helpful guiding my husband on what to do and keeping us calm, as well as knowing some of the hospital staff and working so well with the nurses, being willing to update our families in the waiting room etc. We are so grateful for her insight and help understanding everything and her commitment to helping us make informed choices without seeming biased. If we're still close by when we have another baby I won't hesitate to have her with us again as I'm certain we would not have had such a smooth and relatively intervention free birth without her! Thanks so much again for everything!
A true blessing from God. Words can’t fully capture how grateful I am for my Katherine. She was truly a gift during one of the most important times in my life. Her knowledge and unwavering support gave me the confidence to make decisions that felt right for me and my baby. I signed my delivery contract after 35 weeks, unsure if it would even make a difference, but those few weeks changed everything. She saved me from an unnecessary induction and was by my side every step of the way during delivery. Because of her, I was able to have the vaginal birth I had prayed for. She worked so beautifully with the hospital staff it felt like she was the missing piece in my delivery team. After seeing the impact she had during delivery, I knew I needed her for postpartum care as well. Each day, she reminded me to take care of myself—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally, too. She brought a sense of calm and reassurance that I didn’t even know I needed. Looking back, hiring her was the best decision I made during my pregnancy. She will always hold a special place in my heart for the role she played in bringing my baby into the world.
Katherine Ellis 100%. It was her first hospital birth, it was my third baby so I am not new to the scene-- but she was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and was not hesitant to stop me or nurses to educate/advocate. I highly recommend her!
Katherine was a wonderful doula. She truly listened to everything we wanted and was an incredible support through the birth of my third baby (first homebirth). We would hire her over again 1000 times!!
I didn’t have a doula with my first birth, so I wasn’t sure about hiring one for my second because I don’t enjoy having too many people around when I’m in pain. However, Katherine was super supportive and could read me my body language during when I needed her support or when I needed space. She made sure I was drinking water, she showed my husband some pressure points that really helped my back, and overall was a great addition to my birth! I would definitely recommend her as a doula!!
My husband and I are so grateful for Katherine! She helped me to have a hospital birth without an epidural or pain meds in under 24 hours and pushing in under 30 minutes. She went out of her way to be at my birth. When I wanted to quit she helped me to keep going and have the type of birth that I wanted. She had a good understanding of the process of birth; her hunches were right on point. She allowed me to listen to my body while guiding me with different positions. In my opinion she did way more than the hospital nurses and was a familiar face among strangers. Katherine truly went above and beyond for my birth and I highly recommend her!
I reached out to Katherine as soon as I found out I was pregnant because I didn’t know where to start. I knew I wanted to have a natural birth with as little medical intervention as possible, but besides that I had no clue what to do or what questions to ask! She helped me research care providers by giving me names of OBs and midwives in town. With her help, my husband and I were able to select a team that best supported us and our wishes. Katherine helped me write a birth plan, educated and informed me if I had any questions, and constantly supported me throughout my pregnancy. Not only does Katherine support you emotionally, but also encourages you physically. She met up with me on several occasions to walk, and when I was in pain, had excellent recommendations for chiropractic care and pelvic floor physical therapy. If I could describe Katherine as a doula in a few words, it would be the big sister you’ve always wanted. She is like the big sister you can ask about anything, because she’s already been through it all. While Katherine hasn’t had her own children yet, her work experience has provided her with a wealth of knowledge and she was equipped to handle any challenge I threw her way. When I went into labor, I was texting and calling her throughout the night, and she was responsive no matter what the hour was. She labored with me at home, helped me figure out when to go into the birth center, and supported me during my birth as well by staying by my side the whole time. She can recommend positions to labor in, get you food or water while you labor, remind you of your goals, affirm you, reassure you, and the list goes on. If your partner is lost or a bit panicky on the day of, Katherine can also guide them on how to best support you.
Katherine is the physical, emotional, and spiritual support you need during such a transformative season of life. As a first time mom, I would have been totally lost without her! There are a lot of decisions that have to be made for both you and the baby. She broke everything down and supported me no matter what. I truly cannot recommend Katherine enough to any mom. If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, I strongly encourage you to hire Katherine for your team. I could not have achieved my birth goals without her!
